Program

The Montessori Classroom:

We want to emphasize that the Casa program is a three-year program, so children between the ages of 2½ and 6 years of age remain in the same classroom for 3 years.  They will have the same classmates and the same directresses.  In this way, a family environment is created and the children thrive in a loving and nurturing atmosphere.

The Montessori Curriculum covers both the traditional and uniquely Montessori subjects, such as the Practical Life Materials; the Sensorial Materials; the Language and Math Materials.  The Cultural Area of the curriculum includes subjects such as Art, Music, French, History, Geography, and Science.

No one area is taught in isolation, but rather independently, so that the children learn that everyone and everything is a part of the great cosmic universe.  The Montessori curriculum is non-graded and non-competitive, allowing the children to work and grow in an environment that allows their individual potential to reach its own level, at its own pace, without any negative or judgmental pressure.

School Operations:

School hours are as follow:
M
orning session      9 am to 11:30 am;
Afternoon session   1 pm to 3:30 pm.

All legal holidays are observed as well as one Professional Development Day.  A school calendar will follow shortly.

Dismissal: (Important Change)

No child will be dismissed to any person who is not noted on the Registration Form.  This means that you must at all times inform the school by letter (or by a revised Registration Form ), preferably in advance, (unfortunately it is no longer sufficient to notify us by phone), stating when and who is picking up the child, if it is not the same person as usual.  It is better to err on the side of caution and add as many people to the Registration Form as you reasonably think may pick up your child from school.  Add babysitters, family members, neighbors and friends.
