About Us

Drawing inspiration from the surrounding countryside, where the moraine hills are the source of water for much of the Greater Toronto Area, Caledon Hills Montessori School was founded in 2000. The aim of the school was to bring a font of knowledge to the local community as the first Montessori preschool in the area and in doing so, fill a need for young parents and their children. The school has operated out the Caledon East United Church since inception, where we have created a wonderful space for children aged 2 ½ to 6 years in which to work and learn.

Emphasizing the highest standards in Montessori equipment and materials, the school acts as a community hub attracting young families from Erin, Caledon, Caledon East, Bolton, Palgrave and Inglewood. Over three hundred families – representing over 470 children – have used the school to date. The school’s reputation for independent learning, based on the Maria Montessori credo of “Help me do it by myself”, has spread by word of mouth. Figured prominently among the parents whose children have attended the school are local high-school and elementary teachers.
